I make gumpaste figurines?? I'm going to be on vacation for a week and when I get back I have a cake to make with a lot of figurines....what's the rec. timeframe for making and keeping gp figs?

You can make them now. They need time to harden anyway

Yes, do them now and keep them in a dark place to avoid fading.

Would that be the same for fondant also? Does fondant fade also if not in a dark place? Thanks !

Yes fondant does fade. For minimal fading, store them in a dark place. There are special gel colors that won't fade.
