Petal dusts are flat in color while luster dusts has some sheen. As for platinum dust, I don't see a difference compared with luster dust.

petal dust have no shine to them at all
luster does shine but not sparkle - I know that sounds funny but I personally don't care for luster a much as I do sparkle icon_smile.gif

if you have a good supplier, contact them, tell them the reult you want, and they should be able to guide you to the right product.
petal dusts give a mat finish. motly used for gumpaste flowers, but good to give a deeper colour on anything.
lustre dusts give a metalic finish.
pearl dusts give a pearlised shimmer.

other sugar sprinkles, dusts, i dont know, but they are the 3 basics.
