Hello !! I'm probably going to answer my own question but how do you attach sand to the cakeboard? Do you put BC then pour the sand and hope it sticks?
Sorry 2nd question Do you mix the vanilla wafers with anything or just straight up?

Thanks Sandy

you can use the vanilla wafers straight or you can mix with some crushed gram crackers if you want a bit of variation. Brown sugar will give some sparkle but i don't like the consistency with the cake so i don't use it.

As far as sticking it to the cake board, yes you can use icing. Or you can use piping gel.

I run Nilla Wafers and brown sugar through a coffee grinder (that is only used for this purpose.) It gives the texture of real sand.

I use graham crackers. You can also use tylose glue to adhere it.

I found brown sugar easily melts, esp if you refrigerate cakes like I do.

Graham crackers or something similar really does work great!
