I am making a end of season hockey cake for my little brother. I want to make a plaque to lean against the cake and was wondering what the best way to do this is....

I was thinking about putting parchment paper over top of the picture and then outlining and filling it in will royal icing... would that work??

Thanks for any input!! icon_smile.gif

I use this recipe too. I usually put wax paper in the pan first then spray, you could flour too if you like. It is a very moist cake and sooo delicious.

It sure will! But let me suggest you use plastic cling wrap (Saran) rather than parchment.

A few tips... Use FRESHLY MADE royal icing. Rebeaten icing will not be as strong.

Make an extra just in case one breaks.

If you're going to flood the big areas, don't make the icing too thin or it won't be strong enough.

Tiny details can be added after the piece has completely dried.

Make sure you allow at least 24 hours for it to dry completely. Longer, if you can.

Good luck!
