I have a last minute request to make a lawnmower cake for a 60th birthday. The gentleman is a landscaper and the family would really love this if I can manage to make it. I have ideas on the bottom (cake) part but am stumped on what to use for the long handles. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mary

I made a Snapper push mower cake years ago... DH made the handle out of wire coat hanger and covered with aluminum foil, then he attached it to the board by wrapping the wire ends around screws in the base board.

Can I wrap the PVC wipe with fondant and stick it into the cake?

wrap -- Yes.

attach to cake -- no...too heavy -- will need to attach to a wooden cake board (like 1/4 or so plywood). then fit the cake around it.
