Okay. I had gotten the cricut recently (the middle level one) and I think I might like to try it for gumpaste. I know I can use the mat and I have to remove the sticky stuff. How do I do that?

I also have read a lot about SCAL - is it easy to use or am I going to have to spend a lot of time learning a new program? I am rather computer literate.

I am trying not to get TOO excited since I know people have had a lot of mixed results. But I will keep my fingers crossed.

SCAL is very easy to use. There are also you tube videos showing how to use it. google.

As for your mat... It's glue. Use hot soapy water to scrub it off.

You can get the sticky off faster and easier without scrubing fi you use 90 proof alcohol.

I have just purchased a cricut cake. I buy my cartridges from They are always having sales. Right now, some of the cartridges are priced at $17.95. I am a novice, but love making cakes for my family. I'll try to post the first cake that I made with the cricut cake. The party was at River City Gymnastics so I tried to make a gymnastic themed cake.
