i'm baking a cake for a little girl who is having a citrus fruit themed birthday party. she wants her cake in the shape of lemon and lime slices. any ideas??
bake 6 inch circle cakes- but don't stack them. Cover/ice each single cake layer individually. Cut 1 in half (diameter) to make the lemon and lime wedge slices. Cut a cake board in half as well to match the cake- then you could lean the wedges against the full cakes for a pile of fruit slices effect.
You could also tort each single cake layer with thin layer of lemon or lime to add a bit to the cake. (so each cake has the layer when you cut into it)
Did that make sense????
I used a 12" round to make a lemon slice: http://www.sugarfrosted.com/displayimage.php?pos=-1880
Also Nordicware makes a lemon slice cake pan.
