Why Do My Cakes Keep Sinking??
Decorating By cecescakecreations Updated 7 Jul 2009 , 12:34am by madgeowens
Help...I'm fairly new at this and my otherwise great yellow cake recipe keeps sinking on me all of a sudden!! What am I doing wrong?? Anyone have a clue?
Maybe they are not completely baked....are you opening oven door many times while baking?
I definately never open the doors...I've made that mistake in the past! Would the baking powder have anything to do with it?
btw....oops I posted this thread 3 separate times by mistake....sorry mods.

If you're baking powder is old and past the expiration date than yes that's definitely the problem.
If it's only your yellow cakes that are sinking it could be that the recipe is off a bit or that you're under baking it. Are you over filling the pans?
Check your oven's temp with an oven thermometer to be sure it's reaching the temp that you need.
