Adding More Shredded Carrot Into A Carrot Cake Mix?

Has anyone ever added real shredded carrot into a boxed carrot cake mix? If so does the pieces turn brown? I was thinking of adding more carrot into the batter!!
Thoughts?

I've added fresh carrots and frozen ones too...after I chopped them up a bit! No discolorations on either. Also added raisins and nuts....yum....
