I will be using a 50-50 mix so that I can make cake toppers. How do I store whatever I'm not using at the time so that it doesn't dry out??

TIA! icon_smile.gif

Cover it with some shortening, wrap well in plastic wrap, put into a ziplock bag and put into the fridge. When you want to use it take it out of the fridge and let it come to room temp or put it into the microwave for 5 - 10 seconds. Start with 5 seconds though. If the outside feels a bit dry knead a little bit of shortening into it. If it is really dry add some glycerine and knead it.

I just keep them in my Satin Ice bucket. I've stored them for about 6 months.

It also depends on what type of fondant or gumpaste you use.

Ok I have a 5lb tub of Satin ice gumpaste and I wont be using it all up in a short time since I am not a cake decorator just a new hobby. Thanks for the answer, I'm sure it will probably be fine for longer then that as well then, it's not like anyone is going to eat the gumpaste figures anyway...
