I know my first question has been posted before. I have a small 8 inch cake due on Tuesday. Can I buttercream frost it tommorrow (Sunday) and put in the fridge and then monday night put the fondant accents on?

And where do you get bubble straws?

Unless your filling requires refrigeration there is NO reason to put a cake in the refrigerator. the fridge promotes drying out of your cake.

Of course you can do that. I usually put all my cakes in the fridge because there is always a perishable filling.

I get my straws in CA. My boyfriend gets it for me at an Asian warehouse.

If you can't find the straws locally, ebay is a great alternative...this link was recently posted by katiekatiekatie: http://cgi.ebay.com/172-Giant-Boba-milk-Tea-straws-smoothie-Thai-Bubble_W0QQitemZ320358525061QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item4a96db2885&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12%7C66%3A2%7C39%3A1%7C72%3A1205%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50

I purchased a set and found them to be a bit sturdier than the 50 I got from another site. Also, shipping was SUPER fast.

If you have a local Asian market - they are pretty cheap there. I found mine for .99 a bag. (There's probably 40 or 50 straws).

Hi cylstrial and all,
I am joining this post.
Are those straws strong enough for 5 tiered cake?
Thanks.
