I think that you should refrigerate the cake, just to be safe. Yeah....A filling with that much dairy should probably be refrigerated.
Yes, whipping cream needs to be refrigerated, if you don't want to refrigerate maybe you can use preserves or some kind of jelly.
Forgot to tell you, it will keep for 2 to 3 hrs. indoors without refrigeration, maybe you can bring it out right before cutting time. HTH
