I was wondering what size cake stand you use the most 16", 18", larger? I only want to invest in one right now. Do you like nickel plated, or silver. What style do you use most...ornate or plain? Where's the best place to get one? Thanks so much.

Can't help with all your questions. But here's a site with a nice selection of cake stands at reasonable prices:

HTH

P.S. For what it's worth, I'm partial to the silver plateaus.

or you can think outside of the box when you don't have the money to spend on all of those expensive plates.

I bought a round tray at walmart ($11-12), turned it upside down and used it. It was a bit of a bonus as it had the handles to grab and pick up.

I used it on a cake I made for my son's birthday - I think that cake had to weigh at least 25 lbs.!

type in "monkey in bananas" to see a pic.

I have used a piece of wood covered with "mactac" (sticky paper) that had a flooring look to it for my wedding table cake (see pic).

I used a pizza stone for an 60th anniversary cake (see my pic).
