I haven't tried choco-pan (is it good?) but is it the same as chocolate plastique? Just looking for alternatives to fondant and mmf.

No, choco-pan isn't the same as chocolate plastique/modeling chocolate.

Choco-pan is a fondant product with chocolate added. It's pretty expensive and is generally more difficult to work with than other commercial fondants like Satin Ice and FondX.

I just got a hold of the ingredients of Choco-pan and it is exactly the same as chocolate plastique.

This is the ingredients for the Blanc : Sugar, white chocolate (contains: sugar, partially hydrogenated palm kernel oil,
nonfat dry milk, whole milk powder, hydrogenated palm oil, soya lecithin, and vanillin), corn syrup, vegetable shortening, water, potassium sorbate.

Maybe the amounts in the ingredients are different but am I missing something?

Choco-pan in no way acts like chocolate plastique or modelling chocolate.

Plastique/modelling chocolate doesn't have all of those ingredients in it. It's simply chocolate and corn syrup.

In plastique/modelling chocolate, there is no additional sugar, no measurable vegetable shortening, no water, and no potassium sorbate.
