Be very careful with the ivory gel paste. I once had a "tan" cake that was supposed to be ivory, because colors darken over time. So the buttercream looked okay at first but by the time I finished and the cake had sat, it was tan. LOL...not very pretty...use a tiny dot sized amount of color added from toothpick and wait for several hours to see true color before you decide to add more coloring.

I use butter and real vanilla to make my icing, it tastes great, but is ivory in color. Is there anyway that I can turn it white?

There is a product made by Wilton called Bright White ( I think that's the trademark name) that will turn ivory colored frosting white...
