I need to make a giant cupcake cake, but I don't have the Wilton pan for it. Is it possible to do this without the special pan? Can I just make a bunch of rounds and carve them? Also the cake only 'needs' to serve 20. I know I'll need to make it bigger than that, but any ideas what size? I was thinking 8" on the bottom, but should the top be slightly bigger for a little bit of cupcake 'overhang'? One more thing, any cute ideas or a matching smash cake?
Thanks for your help, I'm sure it's been asked before, but I am terrible at searching the forums and can't find it.

You could do it with 3 or 4 6-inch rounds and then maybe a 8 inch for the cap and carve it down to be sorta domed.I just did a giant cupcake tlast weekend but I have the wilton pan and it was very easy..Good investment since I already have several other orders for it!
