I'm about to do my first FBCT and it is on a pretty intricate cake so I'm pretty nervous about it. If something should go awry, will I have to re-ice my whole cake or is the icing usually salvageable?

it really depends. If the transfer is the entire top of your cake then yes, you will have to re ice it, but if it's a small image you might be able to fix it easily. Good Luck. I love using FBCT!
