In the near future, I hope to be replacing my Wilton cake pans with Magic Line starting with the squares. However ... I am doing a wedding cake next month that will be 12, 10, 8, 6" squares covered in fondant. I have all of the pans except for the 6" and can't afford to buy a whole set of Magic Line pans at one time.
Would I be better off buying a 6" Wilton pan so that they are all the same or going ahead and getting the 6" Magic Line and using Wilton for the other three tiers? The corners are SO different and this will be my first fondant covered cake that hasn't been for practice. I know from past experience that I won't be able to get my Wilton corners squared off ...
If you get the magic line, you could just cut the sharp edge off of it and make it more rounded so it will match the wilton edge - it wouldn't have to be perfect, just close!
