Help! Fondant Shapes? What Kind Of Wire?

I need to make a cake that has stars sprouting out of it for my daughter's birthday..if I use fondant for the stars what kind of wire do I use? Thanks!

floral wire. Michaels or HObby Lobby in the floral section. They have different gages. use a heavier gage. Used it on my whimsical cake. Held up great.

I use covered floral wire. There could be an issue with metal shavings if you use the uncovered stuff.
