icon_smile.gif I'm working on ideas for my son's 2nd Birthday cake. He's become a Mickey Mouse boy so I went with the theme. I've got a few ideas for the cake but am thinking I really want to go with a cupcake cake again. Its cute, simple, less of a mess and hopefully not much left overs or I can freeze what I don't need!

I'm thinking if I pipe the clubhouse scene 1) its ALOT OF ICING. 2) it could topple over. So I thought Sugar mold the club house pieces I have the characters on their way to put on as the cake toppers.

Has anyone done much with Sugar Molds? How long can they keep after used on cake. It'd be nice if it could be kept for a while but at the same time I don't want bugs all over my house because of the "Sugar" feast.

I've considered 3d cakes but not sure I want to tackle that much with working most the weekend of his party.

Any ideas or help would be great. Thanks for the help in advance.

Maybe you could do a FBCT on the cupcakes cake?

The clubhouse and Mickey and his friends...

I might give it a whirl and see how it comes out. I'm planning to be in the park but not sure what the weather will be like for humidity purposes. Maybe I'll shape the cupcakes to the clubhouse and put the characters around the cake. Bad part I only have 3 days to figure it out.

I did a Mickey Mouse cake that my 3 year old designed for his bithday. It's not cupcakes or a 3-D cake, but it might give you some ideas! It's in my photo album.
