Can anyone help me? I'm finding that MMF isnt' firm enough and tends to sag so I want to try gumpaste. TIA!
Are you wanting to use gumpaste for a cake covering? Or did you mean for decorations? I don't think you'd want to cover the cake in gumpaste...if your MMF is sagging on the cake then you should let the cake settle before you put the fondant on.
If you're making decorations, the Wilton gumpaste recipe doesn't have any egg. It doesn't work very well at all for me. Lately I've been using Nicholas Lodge's recipe and it works great. It does have raw egg in it, but gumpaste dries so hard that no one would be eating it anyhow. You can also knead some tylose powder or gum-tex powder into your MMF to help it stiffen up and dry faster.
