I got a request to make cupcakes for a wedding on October 24th.
However, I'm attending a family member's wedding that same day. It's in another state, and we are leaving the Tuesday before to drive there (visiting family on the way).
Can I bake, frost/decorate cupcakes, and freeze them? (Assuming that the reception hall will have room to store frozen cupcakes)
I would suggest trying it out with a small batch. Once decorated, put into the freezer uncovered, let freeze, then remove and put into a storage container.
Now, depending on the decoartions they may or may not thaw well, but testing it first would be the way to go.
Alot of people on this site actually freeze cakes on purpose as it's believed to make the cake more moist.
