I am looking to make some lilly of the valley flowers from fondant. Can it be done with fondant or is gum paste better. Does any one have instructions to make them? Thank you for any advice.
Debbie
I just made some yesterday. I used gumpaste but I think fondant would work as well. I made the stems from 2" pieces of 26 gauge wire covered in floral tape, then wrapped around a longer piece of 22 gauge wire so that each of the 2" pieces made two paired stems, and wrapped with a strip of floral tape to secure them. It took longer to make the stems than the flowers It would have been better with lighter-colored floral tape...the last rolls I got at Hobby Lobby are so dark they're almost black instead of green.
Once the stems were made, I put a small ball of gumpaste on each stem. Then I used a very small flower cutter, thinned the petals a tiny bit, and attached them to the balls with a bit of gum glue. I pressed the center of each flower with a small ball tool (the end of a paintbrush would work as well) so that the flower looked like it was part of the ball.
Here's a picture but it's not a very good one...

Hi bakers,
I have the wilton floral garland cutter/ejector set (white with the purple ejector) do you think the one the look like a star six points could work for the lilly of the valley?
Thanks again for all your help
