Okay this was a first for me,
the lady was making the cake for her friend, I think it wasnt as easy as she expected and asked me if I would be free.

I need a three tier wedding cake for 5 pm today. I was supposed to make this cake, but it is a disaster. Its a very easy cake to make. Nothing to complicated it will have lillys on it. Can the cake be ready by 5, I guess you probably won't be busy......
Huh what does she mean I wount be busy and even If I wasnt busy, I did not eneter the food network challenge "crappy wedding cake in 5 hours". I did call her back becuase I did eel bad for her and I reccomended going to costco or supertarget and start stacking their cakes.
I guess she and the bride won't br friends any longer 
Unbelievable! The nerve of some people... I'd be more mad at the "your probably wont be busy" part. Everybody know cake decorators take Saturday off, right?

I actually did do something similar years back. Got a call around 9-10 a.m for a 2 tier cake for like 4-5 p.m.........and I got it done too! I think I still might have a pic of it somewhere......if I find it I'll post it.
Hahaha! I started laughing as soon as I read the subject line on your post. She must be insane to think that you have nothing to do except wait for a call like this! I mean even if you weren't doing a cake today, you do have a life, right? Some people are totally amazing!!!! I bet she wanted you to make the cake and she would take total credit for it! Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!
you probably need to do it for free also? since the cake was to be donated to the bride.

exactly! I got a call once on a friday night for a wedding cake Saturday evening. It was a pretty simple cake and if I stayed up all night I could have done it (the other cakes for the next day were done already) So I told her 25 dollars a serving. She said she would call back. Never did.
