I've always just made cakes from mixes but I decided to branch out. Last week I made a lemon pound cake from scratch and filled it with raspberry coulis (mixed with just a little buttercream)
Today I made the super enhanced formula with betty crocker yellow cake mix. I'm going to take the cake to a cookout this weekend but I couldn't wait to try it so I made a 4" too.
I filled the small one with the leftover raspberry, and too lazy to make buttercream tonight just for my taster, I whipped up a little heavy cream in a bowl and threw it on top.
This must be the dessert God serves in heaven! Also the first time I've made a filling and tonight was the first time I've whipped cream. It certainly won't be the last!
Heavy cream is a fantastic cake topper!! Light, creamy delisciousness! My favorite way to ice a cake!
