I am getting ready to bake a carrot cake using a 12 x 18 x 2 pan. Since this is such a dense cake what temp should I bake it at and for how long and should I use a heating core or flower nails to bake even? TIA, Carol

just baked a couple of 12 x 18 carrot cakes last week, I baked at 325, used two flower nails, in each cake. How long, I am not sure, watched through the glass door on my oven until they looked done, used a cake tester to make sure. I also used magic strips. I would estimate that it was at least 50 minutes, but could have been anhour or more. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

It depends on your oven and recipe. I usually bake mines in 325. I would suggest using a heating core but I've had success without one. Good luck Carol.
