Hi,
I have the chance to buy a clay extruder for my birthdayicon_smile.gif. I was looking at the Sugarcraft Gun but started hearing good things about the green Merkins(sp?) from Michael's? The twist one? Anyone out there have an opinion on either one? I really want one to help with tassels, ropes, etc...since I can't getthem even to save my life, lol!
Thanks!!!

It's a Makin's clay extruder. It's green and it does twist. It's the one that I have and I just love it! It has 15-20 different disks and it's super easy to use and super easy to clean!! And it's not very expensive. Use a coupon and it makes it even better!!

I have the green makins that was around $25.00. It's one of my most favored and trusted fondant tools. I love it! Happy B-day!

Happy Birthday. I have the one that SugarShack sells. I havent used it yet. BUt it has about 16 or so little disks that you can change out to make the tassels and ropes.

Thanks everyone!!!!! I checked my local Michael's and they don't carry it....hopefully I can find the Makin's online since it seems cheaper than the other oneicon_smile.gif

Hobby Lobby carries it. My Michaels only carries the discs. I bought one with a coupon and just tried to use it yesterday to make a rope. It came out very jagged. My husband said it looked like tool chatter so the big manly man stepped in to show me how to do it. It did the same thing it did when I tried it. LMAO

Try using Satin Ice fondant in the extruder. Works great - no need for crisco or anything. I love mine!

Good grief! Whatever you do, don't do a google image search on merkins! Apparently it's some sort of female pubic toupee!

But the green twist Makins clay extruder is great! Works like a dream.

Hi. I got the green Makin's professional twist online on ebay for 17.99. The auctions have been starting at 9.99 so some people have been lucky to get it for less. Good luck!

This is who I got mine from. They put on one at a time as soon as one is sold a new one goes on. I'd been watching their auctions for awhile. I just needed mine right away. Sometimes they do free shipping also. I was pleased with the transaction.
