Gorgeous! How many square feet do you have?
If you don't mind me answering --she said 930 sf--it's in a picture caption. It's on one of the 'before' pictures where it looks all raggedy before she built it out.
Glory that could not be any more beautiful huh.
<insert shamelessly drooling drooling drooling drooling smilie face>
located right beneath my bright green eyes
But truly I could not be happier for you!!!
Like everyone else I'll just say WOW!!!!!!!!!!
Your place looks amazing! Congratulations and good luck!
I love it! I liked the idea someone had about blow up pictures of your cakes to decorate your hall.
We have that kind of condo above retail below about 10 min from were I live and a cake shop was the first thing I thought of when I saw it...I could live above work below...Dreams, Dreams.
Congrats on yours!!!
You LUCKY DUCK !!! I'm soooo happy for you ! Enjoy every second of your new venture ! ((( HUGS )))
Congratulations... you are living the dream!! I wish you much success. Your shop is beautiful.
Oh gosh, i've just got to ask you, did you have a lot of cakes on the books before you ventured into your shop? Or did you wing it and trust people would find you right off? Did the old adage of "if you build it they will come" really did work out??? Couldn't be happier for you, your space is just ooozing with class and sophistication. Sounds like your off to a great start!
YAY Steph! Congratulations on the new shop. I'll have to stop by and press my face up on the window! (just kidding on the face). Hope to see you soon!
ok, sorry for another question. so you bought the space? your not renting right? the condo didn't come with it then? Again, drooling all over my pc.
Thanks everyone.
Yes, we bought it. Signed it and it was filed on Friday, so it's mine. The upstairs are condos, but they're not all full yet.
I didn't have a slammed schedule for the year when we bought this, but I'm getting too many calls to keep schlepping all my stuff to the expensive rental kitchen 45 minutes away, so we figured if we built it they would come, and they HAVE. It was that, or quit doing cakes....
I spent the last two days down there 12 hours a day, which didn't actually thrill me, but I sent out three terrific cakes yesterday, all working to beat the clock each time, barely got them done on time and delivered, but today is better, and I'm at home until a couples hours this afternoon.
It's a great space to work in, but I have to limit what I do there because I also run another business, and I feel very scattered right now, but at least it's MINE. It was the most stressful two months of my life, though...glad it's over.
Congratulations! It's a wonderful place - I love how you designed it! You're living every cakers dream! May you and your business be blessed!
SOOOOO beautiful! Congrats. Hope it supplies many, many years of happy baking & decorating.
What? Another business too? How in the world can you run two businesses? I mean, how do you do it? Cuz I work a part time job and it's all I can do to do cakes every now and then. Please tell me your secret. I feel stressed and overwhelmed by just a few cakes on the weekends.
ha. The secret to running two successful businesses? And raising two kids? Dealing with 2500 regular customers, two business phones, 3 email boxes, and two offices? And maintaining 2 acres of landscaping and 150 roses, a 5000 sq veg garden, orchard, pets, and my sanity?
1. It helps to be a little crazy.
2. Live by the seat of your pants--every day.
3. Embrace the fact that, even if your life feels like more than you can handle as a business owner, at least you're the one at the wheel.
4. Power nap whenever you can. That stuff will all still be there when you wake up.
5. Keep a strong faith; nothing else gets me by sometimes when it all feels like too much.
Go Chef- Stef I can't complain or say oh God this is to much. You have your plate full. So my hat's off to you and I take a bow at your feet.
