I talked to a bride this weekend and her cake is very simple buttercream with dripped ganache and rose petals. She hasn't decided on real or gumpaste so I need to price them to give her an idea of what they would cost. I know several people have made gumpaste rose petals so how did you price them? I'm just baffled. I thought I would price a florist tomorrow but still looking to cake central for input.

Thanks!

Making petals is easy... how many are you going to have to make?

and how many can you make in an hour and how much do you pay yourself per hour divided by number of petals made in an hour = labor cost per petal plus cost of ingredients, etal.

The florists around here sell a bag of petals for $10. There are three rose heads worth of petals in the bag.

Thanks everyone! I'll probably need to make around 100 - 120 petals but they go really fast. Thanks for the ideas! hmmm now to figure how many I can make in an hour...
