Does anyone know if I can put a real ribbon on the border of an all buttercream cake? I've put real ribbon on fondant, but never buttercream.

As always thanks for the help!

yes you can. just make sure your buttercream crusts. even then, there could be issues with the ribbon getting oily from the buttercream. I did it once and sprayed my ribbon with pam so it wouldn't change color. does that make sense??? it's early. lol icon_lol.gif

I have done this without any problems. I can see how the ribbon would possibly get greasy and bleed.

Do it all the time. I even weave real ribbon into my buttercream basketweave.

Sounds good the pam trick i'll try as well. hopefully the shortening won't creep out and stain my ribbon! icon_smile.gif
