Is tylose powder the same as gumtex? I am having a hard time with the gumpaste roses drying to fast while i am making them.

No, but they are similar. It is a different gum product. I believe tylose is gum tragacanth while gumtex is...dang, I always forget icon_smile.gif. Both of them cause gumpaste or fondant to dry a faster, harder and stronger.

If you are having a problem with your roses drying too fast, I'd mix your gumpaste (if that's what you are using) with a bit of fondant...up to 50/50.

Tylose is similar to gum trag but gum trag is natural whereas tylose is made in a lab.
That is why gum trag is so expensive because it comes from trees.

thank you. i am mixing 50/50. maybe the crisco is what i need to much cornstarch to roll with.
