I have this cake due for Sat. so I baked this morning, let the cakes cool and crumb coated both layers when they were cool. Then it dawned on me, I had forgotten to fill both layers as they were suppose to have strawberry filling in both. Is it to late to cut them and fill them? I really don't have time for a trip to town for more supplies to make another. Anybody got any suggestions?...PLEASE??????
No need to worry Cut each layer in half now and fill, then do another thin crumb coat - nobody will ever know the difference
You could split each tier [ tort them] leaving the center filling of buttercream and add the strawberry to the 2 additional cuts. This would give you 3 layers of filling and 4 layers of cake. Use toothpicks to mark where you split them so you can re-stack them and have it come out lever.
