Covering Cookies

I am making some apron cookies for a shower, and am looking for an icing to pour over cookies so I can add fondant and/or royal icing decorations.

Which would be better, poured fondant, thinned down royal icing, or this glace I just started reading about today? How far in advance could I even do the poured fondant?
