Do any of you know of any online chat rooms dedicated to caking? As addicted as I am to this site, it would be nice to have some immediate interaction with fellow cakers!

I don't know of any. But why not start one? I use a chat program call MIRC There is a list of networks you can choose from(I use Dalnet network). Once on a network you can create or join a chatroom. Its totally free to use and fairly easy. We could even call it #Cake Central If anyone is interested let me know and I'd gladly set it up for everyone.

It looks like you have to download something on MIRC in order to use it, or is that just to set it up?

I've been eyeballing Chatzy . http://www.chatzy.com/faq.htm#
Nothing to download; but it's all text, no pictures or smilies icon_sad.gif
I've never heard from anyone using anything other than one already set up on a site.

You have to download MIRC and install it just like you would any other program. Its totally free though. Here is the help page that tells you how to install it. http://www.mirc.com/install.html and this page has links to other stuff that might be helpful too. http://www.mirc.com/help.html
There isn't any smilies in mirc either, but you can send pictures and documents between users. Using Mirc for a chatroom is just a suggestion that I'm throwing out there. If anyone has any ideas please share them.

Ok, windows messenger has a "groups" option. I'm going to create one for CC - if you want in, PM me and I'll send the invite.
