I am trying to make a baptism cake for a friend, she wanted a buttercream slab cake with a fondant blanket laid over it (flat, not bunched up).

I tried twice now, first time my blanket stretched all out of shape and I had to start over....second attempt my blanket got bunched up while trying to get it on the cake.

Any tips on how to roll out a blanket and lay it over a cake without it stretching or bunching up? (just so you know, I don't have one of those large rolling pins, wish I did!)

roll it out on something, a mat, plastic placemat, etc and then flip it over onto the cake (it should be something flexible that you use to roll it out on) htm

Try folding one end towards the center, then the other end toward the center, pick up with a piece of cake board, slide it on to the center of the cake, then unfold.
