I want to make banana flavored buttercream for a cake I am making. I have banana extract but how do i know how much of the extract I add? Do I just substitute the liquid amount with the extract? Or if anyone has a buttercream recipe that the change out the extracts I would appreciate that.

Thanks,
Cecilia

Are you using the grocery store extracts (McCormick brand, for example) or oils from the cake shop?

I never measure anything, but when I make banana cake, I add about a capful of the flavoring, mix, then taste the batter (or icing). The oils and extracts seem to be more potent than just regular vanilla flavoring, so I wouldn't do an even swap .... do just a little and taste test it.

Yes I am using the McCormick brand. I should be doing it in a few days so I have a chance to taste test.

Thanks,
