I am making a cake for my SIL nursing school graduation. The design that I decided on was a 12" square, 2 layer with a giant syringe laying across the top of the square, then it will read "Nurses call the shots". I was trying to come up with the easiest way to make the syringe, and I had a "unique" idea. What if I baked a cake in the penis pan, then used the um...shaft as the shape of the syringe? I thought about buying a 4" pan, then baking 2 or three, then cutting them in half, but since this cake is free, I would rather not buy another pan that I may never use again. Do you guys think the penis pan idea will work?

Why don't you just carve it out of a rectangular cake?

and print a large picture of the syringe out and cut it out. Lay it on top of your baked and cooled cake, and cut around your picture....

I think it would work.

Well, I thought about that, but I want the top of the syring to be rounded, and I'm not so good at carving yet!

bake in soup cans.

fully round, several can be laid end to end to get a mighty big & scary syringe!

Didn't know there was a penis pan until reading this - never know when that might come in handy! icon_smile.gif

Also - soup can - great idea.

How would she get the cake out of the soup cans? Umm, kinda slow on these things.

You grease and flour it just like a cake pan and it comes right out. This is what I use to make my wine bottle cakes.
