A friend of mine came to me to see if I'll make a wedding cake for a friend of hers to feed 120 people for June 27th. I guess the original baker passed away suddenly and now they are scrambling.

I normally only bake for friends and family but I feel for this bride and I have a some time but I don't know how to price a wedding cake.

The cake she wanted is a Hex layers and Round layers. I was thinking a stacked 15" hex with a 12" round, some pillars then the 6" anniversary cake. The cake will be covered in fondant, have a RI crown and Cinderella carriage, a few small gumpaste pumpkins and flowers. (we'll assume a white cake and buttercream filling at this point).

My question is: If a bride came to you, what would you charge for this?

126 servings x $4 per serving = $504

That is the minimum I would go for - plus, I would add at least $25 each for the crown and carriage.

i would start at $500 and then figure in time, and any extras, like fondant etc. thumbs_up.gif
