I have two grad cakes for today and cannot get my colors right! One is supposed to be 'maroon' and the other an 'almost-navy' - in other words, dark colors. I bought AmeriColor Maroon and Navy Blue but they turned out more like dark baby blue and dark mauve. Help!! icon_cry.gif I need help ASAP, as these are due today. How in the world are the darker colors achieved!?

Thanks in advance!

I've had success with adding cocoa to the fondant and getting it dark brown before adding maroon and then red to achieve a true maroon. With blue I just keep adding more blue, but I aslso use blue powder colour.

Remember too your colours will darken with time, so if you can leave overnight.

Ive added the red red to chocolate and got maroon. And I know if you mix sky blue with violet you get navy, maybe if you add a little violet to it?
