Bassinet Cake-???about Attacking The Hood

Hi im baking a rectangle cake for the bassinett and using a round cut in hal as the hood...using both halves...will it stay up on its own or do u need to someone fasten it on...ill need to drive it to the party...

the ones in my photos have dowels in both layers b/c they had to be driven!

when i made mine i put dowels through the hood into the bottom cake. it held up well..............laura

When I did mine I did dowels through the hood also. But when I did my Mickey Mouse in a box cake, I tried dowels and his head split, so I didnt do it the second try and he drove to the place well, no tipping, plus the cake was only cut about 1/4 off, not 1/2 and he still stayed erect.
