I made it last night and it baked up in to a beautiful, flat cake. No dome. It was nice and dense. I made a little cupcake to try and it was a bit dry but had good flavor. I tried to move the cake an hour later and the whole thing crumbled in to about 20 pieces. I was planning to use it for a 3D cake but maybe I should rethink it.

Did anyone else have this experience?

I have tasted the cake that a good friend made. She was not too thrilled about the results or taste and asked my opinion. Since she was a scratch baker, I know she followed the recipe well. I thought it was a bit dry and the flavor was not my cup of tea. I vowed not to try it. JMHO. By the way, I do own the book as well.

I didn't like it. I thought it was more like a brownie then a cake.

I did not like it either. It was too soft or delicate or something...I would have to wait 30 minutes to take it out of the pan or it would crack in half. normally I only have to wait 10 minutes to take cakes out. Also seemed to take forever to bake.
