I have been given the opportunity to supply a cake at the grand opening of a fashion and party boutique. I bake out of my home, mainly for just family and friends. Should I take a cake and place my name cards on the table? I do not advertise as a bakery, just my name and address, and those people who know me give me a few dollars for my work.

By putting your cards out, then you will be advertising.

Then comes the question - are you legal? And are you willing to take the risk of starting a business w/o being legal.

Who contacted you? Like are you getting paid for the cake? If so, then I would just give my card to the the person in charge in case anybody asks.
