Can anyone give me a quick explanation of the pin prick method when it comes to writing on a cake. I have terrible handwriting and have read about people doing this, just not sure what they are talking about. icon_redface.gif

From what I know you get a copy of a font wright out what you want and trace on parchment paper...place it on your cake then poke a pin through it..lots a dots that way when you pick up the parchment paper you can just pipe over the dots!
It works!

I print up what I want the caption to say on my computer. Place the piece of paper on a piece of cardboard or cake circle. Take a straight pin and poke all the way around the letters. Make sire the bittercream is crusted and then lay the caption our were you want it to be on the cake. Gently trace with your finger over the pinholes and remove paper, this will leave the impression on the icing, fill in with frosting. It has worked well for me.
