my favorite recipe for chocolate cake:
1c cocoa powder
1tsp b. powder
mix these together well, then add
1c sour cream
1/2c veg. oil
1c hot water
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
mix on low speed until incorperated, scrape bowl & mix again on med-high for about a minute.
bake @ 350 for 30-40 mins. let cool in pans for 15 mins then cool on racks
makes enough for 2 9" pans

JenLan...Just wanted to know if your chocolate recipe is heavy enough for carved and stacked cakes?

The only change I make is to add a small package of choc pudding w/ the dry ingredients.
i dont know about carving, but its good for stacking, ive done a 3 teir 3,6 &9" cake without support and it was fine ( i dont recommend no support for a wedding cake though, mine was for a birthday and was put together right before it was delivered so...)
