I want to try some new techniques out...what do you all prefer for modelling or what are the major differences? Are some better then others for certain things? I am refering to, (since I forgot to mention!) Gumpaste, Sugarpaste, Marzipan, and Fondant.

Thanks for the info I just wanted some insite on which direction I sshould go next to take my knowledge to the next level!

All I have ever used is fondant, or fondant with a little gum paste, so I'm not much help, but here's a bump.

I use fondant and gumpaste. I've never used marizpan. You should see if you can talk to Aine2. Her little people are amazing!! You might want to PM her!

I usually use a mixture of fondant and marcipan for covering, it is much softer and pliable and not so sweet in taste. You can use up to 50 % marcipan without it reacting to the buttercream. If figures that need to stand I use fondant with a little CMC powder in.
