How do you decide which to use?

I have made a parrot with fondant, but I'm thinking about doing another one to make it better. Would marzipan be better- the parrot isn't really big, about 4-5 inches long.

Can you spray fondant with the edible laquer?

Hi, I haven't made anything from fondant or marzipan and don't think I would either. Mainly because they are too soft for me. I would use gumpaste or 50/50 mix of fondant and gumpsate. It will dry hard. icon_smile.gif

im a fan of all things gmpaste. but for simple figures, that you want to be really edible (gum paste sets so hard its not easy to eat!) pick what taste you/ person its for likes. marzipan gets a different finish on it too, so i maybe wouldnt use it for a figure on a fondant covered cake.
i pick what ever i have handy!
