I made a carrot cake yesterday and everything was fine or so I thought. We just cut into the cake to serve it and the carrots in the cake were green. I haven't had this happen before when I made this cake. Has this happened to anyone else? Also does anyone know why this happened? usaribbon.gif

If your carrots turn green with a recipe you've used before, the baking soda probably didn't get mixed well enough throughout the batter.

If your carrots turn green every time you make it, the ratio of baking soda is probably off. Try reducing the amount by 1/4 teaspoon next time you make the recipe.

Thank you very much for the advise. I bet it wasnt mixed enough. I am having problems with my KA right now. I will watch for that next time I make it. Thanks! usaribbon.gif

The easiest way to avoid this is to sift all your dry ingredients together with a sifter or put them in a bowl and whisk them together.

Make sure your carrots are well-peeled.
