SugarShack/Sharon Zambito has a great DVD where she shows you step by step how to make one of these bows and a lot of other types of bows. A DVD worth investing in.
Thank you, than you thank you!! Your bow is gorgeous, I have been looking for a tutorial all over the place.
I will try and see if I can do half as good as you
Thanks for sharing! I've always had a problem with bows also but the main reason for me was because I used MMF and it doesn't dry enough or harden (even if I had tylose). So now that I switched to MFF I think I will give this a try
Great bow! Do you know what size dowel you used to dry those loops on? Also what do you mean by "sample loops"?
I used to have a really hard time making bows until I stopped using MMF. Things go so much smoother with the premade stuff + tylose!

I don't remember exactly which size dowel I used for that bow, but I use 5/8" most often. Sometimes 1/2"... sometimes 7/16".
By "sample loops", I mean a few loops (4 or 5) that have been allowed to dry for maybe 10 minutes or so, just long enough to handle. Arrange them in a circle, on a cake pan or cake dummy the same size as the cake the bow will go on to see if the length of the strip needs to be adjusted.
Wow--I just found this and think your bows are beautiful! Thanks for taking the time to write this all out!!
Love it! I'm going to consider this for a baby shower cake that is pink and brown. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for taking the time to post this. I will be referencing this in the future!
Hi Diane,
you responded to one of my posts and I saw your post about bow making. I'm thinking of making my giant cupcake in a "candy melt" liner using my wilton cupcake pan. Want to add
a fondant ribbon around it and was wondering if you might have any suggestions of how
I could get my ribbon/bow to stick on the side of the candy coated liner. Do you think using
liquid gumpaste would work??? [/b]

All you need is some melted chocolate!
Hi Diane,
I have to make a bow like this for a wedding cake next weekend and would love to know how to go about putting the beautiful crisp piped edge on the bow?
Thank you for sharing your tutorial! Your work is stunning
Lisa
Beautiful! Thank you so much for the tutorial. I'll have to try this... I just can't seem to master bow making, maybe this will help!!
