Is anyone willing to send me detailed directions on making a doctor bag or doctor coat and stethoscope cake? I am a beginner cake decorator, but I am pretty creative. My husband is graduating from medical school in a couple weeks and I would love to make a doctor themed cake for the party.

Also, as a beginner, do you suggest I try and make one this weekend as practice, or wait until the graduation and hope it comes out ok?!

Thanks for the suggestions, I really appreciate it!

What if you just made a white sheet cake with a v-neck. (Maybe a blue shirt underneath or something) and then put some pockets on it. And the stethoscope around the neck. And maybe a prescription pad sticking out of the pocket. Maybe a needle in the other pocket. I personally would do it in fondant.

Maybe someone else can send directions. Hope this helps!

The best way to learn to do sculpted cakes is to print out a bunch of pictures from Google images and set them beside you as you work.

Then maybe come to CC for specific questions that you have trouble with once you get going.

Good luck!

Doug -- that lab coat is great! I saved it to my favorites for when I need it!
