I need help. I was trying out a new frosting for a sponge cake Recipe called for creaming 2 c. butter, then beating in 1 1/2 c milk mixed with 2 c sugar then mixing 2 c. of whipped cream. It never came together. The taste was good but looked like cottage cheese. What did I do wrong? Can anyone suggest a good frosting for a mango cake. I was looking for a nice light frosting that can keep overnight. Whipped cream would have been a good idea but I am afraid it would melt into the cake if I did it a day ahead.
Thanks for your advise in advance]

Extra Special Buttercream Icing Recipe
try this recipe it's here on CC and it is really yummy. I would of used less milk and I would of creamed the butter and whip cream together. I wouldn't whip the cream and then add it that's why it looks like cottage cheese.

That is a lot of liquid! Is the sugar powdered or granulated? Is the cream whipped stiff or liquid?
Never have tried anything like that recipe so I may be way off base.

I've also had this problem if the butter isn't truly at room temperature-it just won't cream up nicely and, instead, looks more like a cottage cheese.
